4 Good-Paying Careers in Aviation That Only Require a High School Diploma

Do you dream of working in the aviation field but dread the thought of attending college? Fortunately, there are plenty of great jobs that don’t require a college degree. Here are some of them.

1. Aircraft Maintenance Technician

Aircraft maintenance technicians do all routine maintenance and also use aircraft hardware kits to repair any worn or damaged parts of an airplane. You’ll need a high school diploma and attend an approved maintenance technician school to qualify. Also, you’ll need to pass the required FAA exams before being hired.

2. Flight Attendant

Flight attendants can make good money, but they work hard. They need people skills in order to care for the safety and comfort of the passengers. As a flight attendant, you demonstrate safety as well as serve meals. You won’t need a college degree to be a flight attendant, but you do have to be in good physical shape.

3. Reservation Agent

Reservation agents don’t need a college degree, but they do need a talent for sales as well as excellent computer skills. Reservation agents listen to clients and work with hotel staff to get the best deals.  Attending a trade school will provide you with the skills you need and help you find a good-paying job.

4. Baggage Handler

Just as their title implies, baggage handlers load and unload luggage and other items. They need to be able to work with towing tractors and be able to protect luggage from thieves. Baggage handlers are also trained to spot any suspicious-looking luggage and alert security.

To obtain work as a baggage handler, you’ll need communication skills and be in good physical condition. Most airlines provide on-the-job training.

If you’re not interested in going to college but want a job that pays well, a position in the airline industry might be for you.
